These shots are from the local Føns Vang, a previously drained-for-agriculture lake that hosts very many waterbirds year-round. I had the EOS 5D mkii with the 500mm and the converter on the tripod, and was essentially waiting for something to happen. The ballast dump was a bonus.
People say the 5D is no good for focussing on moving targets and has too-slow frame rate. Maybe it does, on both counts, but I do love mine. Awesome camera.
