These shots are from the local Føns Vang, a previously drained-for-agriculture lake that hosts very many waterbirds year-round. I had the EOS 5D mkii with the 500mm and the converter on the tripod, and was essentially waiting for something to happen. The ballast dump was a bonus.

People say the 5D is no good for focussing on moving targets and has too-slow frame rate. Maybe it does, on both counts, but I do love mine. Awesome camera.

When shooting in continuous burst mode you sometimes get results that you only see when you get home. This is an example of that.

The sequence here follows the sequence shot. Notice how much the bird moves up and down in relation to the water with each wingbeat.
