A Red-billed gull (Larus novahollandiae) from New Zealand. This image manages, in spite of other obvious shortcomings, to demonstrate how the “level” rule applies to birds in flight too. Because it is flying straight at me, and looking at me while calling, it seems to interact with the viewer in a way that an overflying bird could never do. EOS 7D with EF 300mm f4 and 1.4TC=420mm at f5.6, 1/1600 ISO200
