It is all very well to go twitching now and again; not least for a birder like myself. But the real joy often lies elsewhere, like in finding photo opportunities at home. Yesterday was all about just that. The birds were neither rare nor vagrant or exotic, but they were reasonably cooperative, and the following gallery is the result:

The Eurasian wren is really a bit too small for Danish winters. Too much heat loss, too little to eat.

They forage for insects in the thicketclose to the ground. Sometimes they pass over pretty tree stumps like this one.
